{"id":93,"date":"2011-12-13T01:34:58","date_gmt":"2011-12-12T20:34:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/learnsf.wordpress.com\/?p=93"},"modified":"2011-12-13T01:34:58","modified_gmt":"2011-12-12T20:34:58","slug":"fix-salesforce-word-doc-print","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.felineflock.com\/index.php\/2011\/12\/13\/fix-salesforce-word-doc-print\/","title":{"rendered":"Fixing Word document printing from SalesForce"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some users will have a different configuration in their desktops that will prevent printing a Word document attached to a SalesForce contact.<\/p>\n<p>Below is the typical error when the user attempts to open the attachment and then print:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left:30px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.felineflock.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/image0011.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-94\" title=\"image0011\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.felineflock.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/image0011.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"604\" height=\"160\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.felineflock.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/image0011.png 610w, https:\/\/blog.felineflock.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/image0011-300x80.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 604px) 100vw, 604px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A solution that worked for one of my users is from this Microsoft link:<\/p>\n<h1><a href=\"http:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/kb\/982995\">A new application window opens when you try to view an Office 2010 document in Internet Explorer 7 or in Internet Explorer 8<\/a><\/h1>\n<p>This Microsoft page has a convenient button that allows the user to implement the fix with no technical knowledge:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left:30px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.felineflock.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/image002.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-95\" title=\"image002\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.felineflock.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/image002.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"570\" height=\"219\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.felineflock.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/image002.jpg 570w, https:\/\/blog.felineflock.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/image002-300x115.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 570px) 100vw, 570px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Once the fix is applied, all Microsoft Office documents (including Word) will open within the browser and the user can then click on the browser&#8217;s Print icon on the upper right corner:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left:30px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.felineflock.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/image003.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-96\" title=\"image003\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.felineflock.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/image003.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"604\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.felineflock.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/image003.png 733w, https:\/\/blog.felineflock.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/image003-300x112.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 604px) 100vw, 604px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If users prefer to get to the print dialog first, they can click on the down arrow:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left:30px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.felineflock.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/image0041.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-97\" title=\"image0041\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.felineflock.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/image0041.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"212\" height=\"96\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If however, this fix doesn&#8217;t work, another Microsoft link promises to reverse the change: <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/kb\/162059\">http:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/kb\/162059<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Another item to look for is whether printing from the internet is disabled on the user&#8217;s desktop.<\/p>\n<p>This option is seen on the following registry setting: <strong>HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftInternet ExplorerRestrictions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There should be an entry named &#8220;<strong>NoPrinting<\/strong>&#8221; with value 1, which should be changed to 0.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some users will have a different configuration in their desktops that will prevent printing a Word document attached to a SalesForce contact.
